Four Minors Detained Following the Fatal Stabbing of 19-Year-Old Destau Tsekul in Be'er Sheva Ambush
BE'ER SHEVA — Law enforcement authorities have detained four minors, aged 14 to 16, in connection with the brutal homicide of 19-Year-Old Destau Tsekul, who was ambushed and stabbed to death directly outside his residence on Moshe Sharett Street.
According to investigative findings, the suspects, who were reportedly highly intoxicated, placed an early morning phone call to Tsekul, luring him down from his apartment under the pretense of having a conversation. Upon his arrival at the building's courtyard, the group launched a coordinated assault, stabbing Tsekul multiple times before fleeing the scene. One of the primary suspects was later apprehended by tactical units inside a safehouse in Kiryat Gat.
The sudden, senseless killing of Tsekul—a well-regarded local youth who had recently completed a pre-military leadership academy (Mechina) and was preparing for his mandatory IDF enlistment—has sent shockwaves through the community and sparked national outrage regarding the alarming rise of youth violence. Family members have publicly expressed deep grief and anger, heavily criticizing neighboring onlookers who witnessed the attack from their windows but failed to intervene or contact emergency services immediately as Tsekul cried out for assistance.
Pod7live Today will continue to follow the legal proceedings as the Southern District Police and Central Investigative Unit (Yamar Negev) present the suspects to the Be'er Sheva Magistrate's Court for ongoing detention extensions.
